Welcome to Your B’nai Mitzvah Learning Program

Shalom! Hello! We’re so thrilled that you have decided to have a b-mitzvah with us.

How Our Program Works

  • Each unit has videos, handouts and exercises to help you learn your Judaics and Hebrew
  • You can go in any order you want, but please do the Hebrew units in order
  • Get a mentor to help you. This could be your rabbi, a family member, your Hebrew tutor or another adult. The homework that you do needs to be submitted to that mentor so that you can be accountable in your learning
  • Keep a notebook or a binder. Yes, old school style! You’ll also need a phone to snap pictures of your work to your mentor

Some units have homework and some do not. If you have any questions about the work, just email your mentor.

Hebrew Tutoring

In addition to the materials online, you will be mentored in Hebrew for your b’nai mitzvah service, which may include reading from a Torah. This learning is customized, so you will receive emails every now and then with other materials to help you learn that are not found in your online units.

Prayer Books

Download your siddurim (prayer books) which you will use through the program. They are broken into parts for each service: morning, afternoon and evening services for Shabbat. If you would like a weekday siddur, let us know and we will send you one!

If you ever have any questions, be sure to reach out to your mentor. And most importantly, have fun!

Homework

Why does having a bar/bat mizvah matter to you? Write a list of reasons and be prepared to talk about them with the rabbi.
