What Is A Mitzvah?

You are becoming a bar (son) or bat (daughter) of the mitzvah. That’s what bar and bat mitzvah mean!

So what’s a mitzvah? Some people think it means “good deed”. But it’s not! Watch the videos below to learn more.

Homework

Read this article about the 613 commandments (mitzvot) in Judaism. Choose one to write about. Answer the following questions:

  • What is the mitzvah you picked?
  • Summarize what the mitzvah is
  • Why was it interesting to you?
  • Is it a mitzvah you would choose to fulfill?

Your writing should be no more than three paragraphs.
